The world we live in...

Everything has shifted significantly in our world here....and its difficult and exhausting to keep looking at such a harsh and altered landscape...that was recently so lush and vibrant...
But there are smiles... and beauty amidst it all....
Our house survived in tact but for a few windows.... sadly the forest has all but gone...
There is always fun to be had if you have the right attitude !

The impassible driveway

Water fun.... in the midst of collecting water when the taps stopped working...

A hungry cockatoo with his treasure
Beautiful Bingil Bay will take some time to recover...

What a beauty

We found this gorgeous Rose crowned fruit dove on its back in the yard, wing bent legs curled in..we have carried her with us everywhere since, drop feeding her ....We are not sure if she will be able to return to the wild but for now she is reminding us that there is still beauty around.... if only you look carefully
We have named her Rosie

  1. very moving, seeing the natural beauty of your place, the destruction caused by Yasi, and the small creatures and moments of loveliness that have survived.

  2. Wow, those photos are incredible.
I'm sure that the rainforest will recover - it hasn't been long since larry wiped out a lot of it, and it was just getting back to being beautiful. I loved the lighthearted photos of the girls playing in the rain!
And Rosie is just gorgeous. I hope she pulls through ok :)

  3. What wonderful strength you reflect. You are doing wonderfully well given all you have endured the smiles the tender moments and to find the space to give when you have lost so much around you - The green will return in time but True Beauty Endures.
    All the best Denise
